Spring edition of the training “Labour mediation, or conflict management in the work place”

Campaign “You have the right to mediation”

“You have the right to mediation” is the slogan of the radio and TV information campaign of the Ministry of Justice launched on 1.03.2011 promoting the institution of mediation and the mediator’s profession. Kinga Markert and Anna Cybulko participated in the campaign talking on Polish Radio 1 about labour mediation.

Fourth meeting of the Mediators Club

On 11 March the fourth meeting of the Mediators Club took place. The purpose of the initiative addressed to professional mediators is to integrate the mediators’ community, exchange experience, knowledge and skills and work on development of the profession. Persons interested in participation in the next meetings are requested to contact us.

Training on labour mediation for directors at Real

Anna Cybulko and Kinga Markert conducted a cycle of trainings on labour mediation for directors from Real. The workshop was a part of the Labour Law School organized by the law firm MERSKI Radcy Prawni i Adwokaci. The purpose of the trainings for directors of hypermarkets and regional directors in the company was to increase the number of labour disputes resolved by way of mediation and to prepare the managers to implement the mediation clause in the job contract.

Framework agreement with the Public Communication Centre at the City Hall

We signed a framework agreement with the Public Communication Centre of the Warsaw City Hall on conducting meetings with the population and interest groups in the city. Under the agreement we will moderate meetings and public consultations concerning current problems of the inhabitants of Warsaw.

We moderate Warsaw Housing Meetings

Moderators from Markert Mediacje were selected to conduct 5 meetings under the “Warsaw Housing Meetings”. The purpose of this initiative, organized by the Housing Policy Office and Public Communication Centre of the Warsaw City Hall, is to present the housing policy of the Warsaw authorities with regard to granting housing assistance, problems with housing adaptations, sale and renovation of houses and apartments. Open workshop: "Labor mediation, or conflict management in the work place"

On 18 and 19th of November, 2010 in Warsaw Markert Mediacje held an open workshop: "Labor mediation, or conflict management in the work place"

Among participants of the workshops were managers, Heads of PR Departments, specialists and lawyers from KappAhl, Plus, Real, ABB, Polfa. The aim of the program was to reinforce skills of conflict management, enabling  successful dealing with the disputes occurring in the work place.

Seminar: "Mediation clause in employment contracts – benefits and consequences of using mediation in labor relations".

On 29th of October, 2010 in Warsaw there took place a seminar:

"Mediation clause in employment contract – benefits and consequences of using mediation in labor relations".

Seminar was organized on the occasion of International Day of Mediation, by Markert Mediacje and Center of Conflict Resolution at the Faculty of Law, University of Warsaw. The event took place under the auspices of the Head of Ministry of Labor and Social Politics, Jolanta Fedak.

Mediation Debate - development of mediation in Poland

Mediators from Markert Mediacje participated in the Mediation Debate aimed at gathering good practices and developing recommendations on system solutions for mediation development in Poland. Two parts of the debate were organized in June and July 2010 by the Children’s Rights Protection Committee and the Association of Family Mediators in the bookshop and coffeehouse Tarabuk in Warsaw.

Anna Cybulko from Markert Mediacje becomes Vice President of the Management Board of the Association of Family Mediators

Anna Cybulko from Markert Mediacje was elected Vice President of the Management Board of the Association of Family Mediators by the General Meeting of the Association on 10 June 2010.

Second Mediators Forum

On 15 April 2010 the second meeting under the working name of Mediators Forum took place. The meeting, concerning the methods of cooperation and development in the mediators’ community, was organized by representatives of a few leading mediation centres, incl. Anna Cybulko from Markert Mediacje. A few dozen mediators from the whole Poland participated in the event.

Cycle of trainings for employees of the Warsaw University “Constructive conflict resolution”

In April 2010 Anna Cybulko and Kinga Markert conducted a cycle of trainings on “Constructive conflict resolution” for employees of the Warsaw University. The trainings were organized on the initiative of the Centre for Dispute and Conflict Resolution at the Law and Administration Faculty of the Warsaw University.

International conference “Family mediation systems. Norway, Germany, Poland”

On 24 March 2010 an international conference “Family mediation systems. Norway, Germany, Poland” was organized in Warsaw. Anna Cybulko, mediator from Markert Mediacje, presented during the conference the family mediation system in Poland.

First Mediators Meeting

On Friday 13 November 2009 Warsaw was the venue of the first meeting of mediators interested in creating a platform for improvement of their professional skills, getting to know one another, exchange of experience and promotion of mediation. The initiative to organize the meeting was first presented in May at Christopher Moore’s workshop organized by Markert Mediacje. In the future such meetings are planned to take place quarterly. They will be dedicated to improvement of professional qualifications, supervision, integration of the mediators community,  planning of joint activities and discussing important issues related to the mediator’s profession. Persons interested in participation are requested to contact us.

International Day of Mediation

On 15 October 2009 the International Day of Mediation was celebrated in Poland for the second time already. The Ministry of Justice was the organizer and Wolters Kluwer Poland was the media  patron the event. For mediation centres throughout Poland the day was an opportunity to call the attention of the community interested in the subject – courts, prosecutor’s offices, police, local authorities, non-governmental organizations, church organizations or individuals – to alternative ways of conflict resolution. Markert Mediacje in cooperation with the Association of Family Mediations was present in the tent promoting mediation put up on 15 October at Pl. Konstytucji in Warsaw. We also offered consultations and information on mediation at the District Court in Warsaw.

Cycle of training activities “Team building and management. Group communication”

In June and July 2009 Kinga Markert provided a cycle of trainings based on the program she designed on “Team building and management. Group communication” for participants of the projects “Building relations with the environment – training on communication in organizations” financed by the European funds and organized by the John Paul II Higher Vocational School in Biała Podlaska.

Advanced workshop for mediators conducted by Christopher W. Moore

On 29-30 May 2009 an advanced workshop for mediators was conducted in Warsaw by Christopher W. Moore – a globally known expert in conflict management. More than thirty specialists from the whole Poland, representing more than twenty mediation centres, participated in this training on business and social mediation organized by Markert Mediacje. In addition to the opportunity of learning from the best we were able to exchange experience and establish cooperation for the future. More about the workshop here.

Moderation of the conference “Mediation – effective dispute resolution. Business. Law. Society”

Kinga Markert moderated the online conference “Mediation – effective dispute resolution. Business. Law. Society” organized by Wolters Kluwer Polska on 28.05.2009. In addition to the guest of honour, Christopher W. Moore, the speakers included also Polish experts on mediation: Maciej Tański – chairman of the Social Council at the Minister of Justice responsible for Alternative Methods of Dispute and Conflict Resolution, Zbigniew Czwartosz from the Warsaw University and University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Maciej Bobrowicz – President of the National Council of Legal Advisers and  Rafał Morek from the Centre for Out-of-Court Dispute Resolution at the Law and Administration Faculty of the Warsaw University.

Christopher W. Moore in Poland

In May 2009, in connection with the publication of his book, Christopher W. Moore, Partner of the CDR Associates in Boulder, Colorado – a famous mediator, moderator, designer of conflict management systems and trainer came to Poland. Moore, who for over 30 years has been working on group decision-making and conflict management, came on the invitation of Wolters Kluwer Poland and Markert Mediacje – Polish partner of CDR. He was involved in projects in the USA and in over 40 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Latin America. He was one of the first persons who introduced mediation in Poland in 1990s. During his stay in Poland the famous mediator made presentations for students at the Warsaw University, Jagiellonian University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; he had meetings with arbiters from the Polish Chamber of Commerce, representatives of law firms and mediators. He also conducted an advanced workshop for mediators and took part in an online conference on mediation.

The book “Mediation. Practical Strategies for Resolving Conflict” has been published

In May 2009, thanks to the Wolters Kluwer Poland publisher, the long awaited book by Christopher W. Moore “Mediation. Practical Strategies for Resolving Conflicts” came out. The author is one of the founders of the CDR Associates, the American partner of  Markert Mediacje. The book was translated from English by Anna Cybulko, mediator from  Markert Mediacje.
