Community mediation in the heliport dispute

Kinga Markert and Aldona Toczek, the mediators from CRSiK, recommended by Mazowieckie Province Governor, mediated in a multiparty dispute, asked for help by the management of the hospital (confidential project). The parties of the dispute were: hospital management, the proprietors of the land surrounding the hospital and local authorities.

Open training “Labour mediation, or conflict management in the work place

Another edition of the open training “Labour mediation, or conflict management in the work place” took place on 21-22.03.2013 in Warsaw. Its participants were employees of such companies and institutions as: Amica Wronki, Saint Gobain, Mazowieckie Province Office, Bydgoszcz Foundry. We quote below their comments from the training evaluation questionnaires:

  • HR Director: “interesting / slightly arcane knowledge has become more recognizable to me”, “very good atmosphere, small group, possibility of practical exercises”
  • Personnel manager: “What I liked most was the possibility to mediate during the training, or practical exercises in which we were able to participate”
  • Head of production: “work on examples was valuable”, “for the future – better coffee”
  • HR specialist: “trainer whom you might listen to non-stop, who can talk in a way understandable even to a complete amateur”

Biogas Production Plant – we moderate a community meeting

Kinga Markert and Tomasz Ołdak – partners at Konsultacje Społeczne, consulted the public consultation process designing and then moderated the meeting with Kedzierzyn Kozle inhabitants. The debate was an important step forward in the decision-making process to obtain the environmental permits necessary for building a biogas plant. This public meeting, hosted by vice president of Kedzierzyn Kozle, was attended by people from the neighbourhood of the planned plant, environmental organizations and the investor - Biogaz Projekt RHC. During the debate the misunderstanding related to the biogas plants was dissipated and future benefits from this investment for the inhabitants were explained.

Follow-up training for in-house mediators in Amica Wronki

Kinga Markert conducted a follow-up training for the in-company mediators in Amica Wronki S.A. This was the continuation of Markert Mediacje involvement in a project of implementation the mediation skills in this plant. Mediation is there a tool of resolving the manager - employee conflicts based on the performance appraisal process. After a year of implementing mediation it is also used in finding satisfactory solutions in other personnel conflicts.

Training for in-house mediators in bank

Kinga Markert and Katarzyna Kamińska prepared the employees of the next company, one of the leading banks, to act as in-company mediators. The goal of the workshop was to teach HR Business Partners to assist employees in resolving the workplace conflicts. The intensive course run in February and March 2013 was 4 days long. Each of the participants was training running a mediation session three times during the course thanks to the prepared by trainers tailored case studies adapted to the bank reality.

VIII Mediators Club

On 14 November 2012 in Warsaw the 8th meeting of the Mediators Club will take place. The initiative was designed to integrate the community of active practicing mediators and Markert Mediacje is one of the organizers of the event. The Club members will meet Marzena Kruk, Ph.D, Head of the Unit for Offence Victims and Promotion of Mediation in the International Cooperation and Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Justice, and will be able to discuss the planned changes concerning mediation in the Polish legal framework.

Information on mediation at courts

Since April 2012 we have been available at selected courts in Warsaw to provide information on mediation. Mediators from Markert Mediacje: Małgorzata Kujawa, Katarzyna Kwiatkowska and Kinga Markert answer questions concerning mediation and provide free mediation advice.

Conference “Responsible Energy. Energy investments – from protest through dialogue to cooperation”

On 31.05.2012 the IV Nationwide Conference “Responsible Energy. Energy investment – from protest through dialogue to cooperation” was organized in Warsaw by Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA.
Kinga Markert and Agata Stafiej-Bartosik from PwC Polska conducted during the conference a workshop: “Introduction to consultation, mediation and public dialogue – a practical approach to the dialogue process in a situation of divergent interests”.

In May 2012 Kinga Markert and Wojciech Dmitriew conducted a training for 18 Regional HR Managers at Jeronimo Martins – the owner of Biedronka on the skills of supporting positive relations in shops in difficult situations.

We train in-company mediators at Amica Wronki

Kinga Markert and Katarzyna Kamińska prepared employees of Amica Wronki S.A. to act in the role of in-company mediators. The project, innovative in the reality of Polish companies, is aimed at resolving by mediation conflicts which arise between employees and their superiors during performance appraisal interviews. The intense 4-day workshop was held in March and April and after the event each participant received a personalised feedback about his or her strengths and areas to improve in the role of an internal mediator.

Business Centre Club Conference

On 14 December 2011 during a conference organized for Business Centre Club members Kinga Markert made a presentation on mediation in labour disputes.

E-learning course for mediators

On commission of the Association of Warsaw and Mazovia Employers Kinga Markert prepared the framework for introductory and advanced e-learning courses dedicated to mediators in public disputes, registered in the list of mediators at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.

We train judges from business and civil divisions

In October and November 2011 we participated in a big training project organized by the Ministry of Justice. In cooperation with trainers from the Dispute and Conflict Resolution Centre at the Law and Administration Faculty of the Warsaw University we trained judges from business and civil divisions of courts throughout Poland on business mediation. Kinga Markert also trained  mediators who conduct mediation ordered by courts and she co-authored the training programs used in the project.

Public consultation on modernization of the Kępa Potocka park

On 8.09.2011 we moderated the consultation meeting with the inhabitants of the Warsaw district of Żoliborz concerning “Modernization of the Kępa Potocka Park”, organized by Żoliborz District Authorities. More than 100 people participated in the meeting which took place at the “U Araba” bar in the Kępa Potocka park.

Conflict in sales team

Consultants from Markert Mediacje conclude an over two-month project on conflict resolution in a sales team (confidential). The purpose of the mediation and workshop for the employees in conflict was to restore efficiency of the team’s work  by ending the dispute and repairing the relationship with the superior.
